VW and Kia take titles

The Volkswagen Golf has taken Car Dealer’s Used Car of the Year Award 2016.

According to Car Dealer, ‘the Golf is packed with features that continue to make it one of the strongest propositions in the used car market’.

Ian Plummer, Volkswagen UK’s head of sales operations, said, ‘The Golf retains a timeless appeal and so it’s perhaps no surprise that it continues to pick up awards as a used car. It’s a strong seller in Volkswagen’s Das WeltAuto used car programme, and it’s a car that continues to put smiles on the faces of our customers.’

Meanwhile, for the second year in succession Kia’s Approved Used Scheme took top honours for ‘providing customers with the best peace of mind in the market’. The brand first won the Manufacturer Used Car Scheme award for the first time in 2013.

David McCluskey, national used vehicle sales and remarketing manager, said, ‘Having the best new car warranty in the business wasn’t enough for us – we wanted to give Approved Used buyers just the same security and peace of mind – and winning this this award for the third time proves we deliver.

‘Launched in 2010, and with over 45,000 Used Approved cars sold, the now multi-award winning Kia Used Approved Programme has been a huge success amongst our dealer network as well as customers.’
