Volvo underlines commitment to training

Volvo is investing £6m to build a completely new facility at its Training and Development Centre in Daventry.

The work is expected to be completed by the summer of 2017, and once finished the site will be purchased by Daventry District Council and leased back to Volvo Car UK.

David Baddeley, Volvo customer service director, said, ‘In these uncertain times for the UK, this is a significant show of commitment from Volvo in its Daventry operations. Our new facility will provide the thousands of Volvo dealer employees across the country with the best possible environment to enhance their knowledge for years to come.’

The new facility will ensure the company has the training facilities to support the growing range of technology in its cars, such as remote view and web-bases services.

Councillor Colin Poole, Daventry District Council’s economic, regeneration and employment portfolio holder, said, ‘Volvo’s decision to invest in this state-of-the-art new facility is fantastic news for Daventry and our economy. The company has long-standing roots in our town and we are pleased to support this new development, which we hope will enable their operations to thrive in our town for years to come.

‘We welcome Volvo’s confidence in keeping and enhancing their national training facility here which again confirms that Daventry District is open for business.’
