SUPERB sales drive growth

Worldwide sales of ŠKODA rose one per cent in July to 83,700 units.

The Czech manufacturer made significant gains in China (up 16.1%) and Russia (up 11.6%), while sales of the ŠKODA SUPERB shot up 92.7% over last year.

Werner Eichhorn, ŠKODA board member for sales and marketing, said, ‘ŠKODA’s growth has also continued in July. Across all markets, we see that our young model range is appealing increasingly to new consumer groups.’

However, ŠKODA recorded a sales decline of 8.7% in July in western Europe, mainly due to the break in production at the Czech plants during the three-week factory holiday.

Sales in Germany were also down, although the brand did record double-digit growth in Italy, Finland and the UK.

Sales in central Europe dropped 4.2% but were 11.2% up in eastern Europe and 22% higher in Turkey and Israel.

The brand will hope to build on these numbers as it strengthens its position in SUV segment with the world premier of the KODIAQ next months, before a market launch in February.
