Paul takes top spot

Paul Goulden of Nationwide Crash Repair Centres Bridgend has won the 2017 Lead Painter Accreditation Competition (LAPC).

Organised by PPG and Nationwide Crash Repair Centres (NCRC), the Lead Painter Accreditation Course (LAPC) is a combined training programme and competition designed to enhance individual painter skill sets, as well as coaching best practice techniques throughout the Nationwide network. The LPAC programme saw 56 painters from Nationwide Crash Repair go through an intensive training and assessment programme which concluded last week at the final.

Six of the top painters from the programme were invited to PPG’s Technical Training Centre in Stowmarket, Suffolk to compete in the final to win the LPAC champion title. Throughout the day, there were various rounds to the LPAC final – from product application to spray paint design. The competition was very closely fought, with all finalists demonstrating an exceptional level of skill, but Paul Goulden from Bridgend demonstrated he was worthy of the win, after his fantastic spray paint design.

SATA had kindly supplied every competitor with a MiniJet spray gun for all of their efforts throughout the competition and the winner also received a brand new SataJet Phaser 5000B. As well as receiving the SataJet Phaser 5000B the winner also received, from PPG and Nationwide, a new iPhone 7 and an Apple Watch.

Paul Goulden, NCRC Bridgend commented, ‘It has been a very testing competition and it was definitely very closely fought between myself and the other finalists. I want to say a massive thank you to PPG for selecting me as the winner, it has been a great opportunity to improve my skills and I am really surprised by all of the skills I’ve learnt from the competition too.’

Simon Meredith, PPG national account manager stated, ‘It’s been really exciting to run the LPAC competition, for the second time, in partnership with Nationwide Crash Repair. It’s a true testimony to both parties looking to deliver ‘right first time’ results every time through process and people development.’
