‘Never Give Up’ charity challenge

Frank Byrnes will attempt to run more than 128 miles to raise funds for local community organisation Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit.

Frank is the managing director at Frank Byrnes Autobody Repairs and a volunteer at Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit, which was set up recently to coordinate searches for missing people in the area while also providing support to friends and family.

His ‘Never Give Up’ challenge includes three events over a five-week period. The is this Sunday’s Dublin City Marathon, before he will attempt to complete two marathons back to back at the Belleek Trail Marathon in Ballina, Co. Mayo on 3 and 4 November.

He will then hope to finish the challenge by completing the Wicklow Way 50-mile Ultramarathon in early December.

He said, ‘It’s all about steady, strong, consistent pace for the marathons to build the stamina for the Wicklow Way 50 mile Ultra. My target for Dublin is three hours forty-five minutes; Belleek – day one three hours fifty minutes and day two three hours fifty-five minutes and the WW50 Ultra will take about thirteen hours – a gruelling day in wintry conditions.

‘I also hope some people will take inspiration from the ‘Never Give Up’ slogan,’ he added.
