Motor Show to stop the traffic

Nearly half a million people will attend the Regent Street Motor Show on Saturday 5 November, when one of London’s busiest thoroughfares will, ironically, be closed to traffic from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus.

Among the attractions will be a Top Gear simulator giving visitors the opportunity to drive Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 car, while, celebrating James Hunt’s 1975 World Championship victory, his victorious McLaren M23 car be on display and his son and fellow race driver Freddie will be there to meet fans and sign autographs.

The motor show will also feature an exhibition from Transport for London about the ‘cars of the future’, while also displaying examples of public transport through the ages and showing off some of the technology that makes today’s buses more environmentally-friendly than ever before.

The Bonhams Vintage Car Zone will display pre-1905 vehicles while bike makers Triumph will have a stand showing off classic models the past, with stunt shows taking place at Piccadilly Circus at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.

If all this whet’s the appetite to get behind the wheel, the Hertz Dream Collection offers visitors to the chance to rent a genuine supercar for the day, the weekend or even longer.
