MG Cannon adds new sites

Salisbury based MG Cannon has acquired three bodyshop sites from the franchised dealer group Heritage Automotive Ltd.

The three sites are located in Dorchester, Salisbury and Westbury giving MG Cannon a greater foot print across the south west of England. The Westbury site, which had been operating as a pre delivery inspection centre in recent months, has already been transformed back into a bodyshop. The Heritage Salisbury site has been merged with MG Cannon’s already well established bodyshop in Salisbury to create a two site operation of accident repair and a dedicated fast-track repair facility for MG Cannon’s retailer partners. The Heritage Dorchester site continues to trade with all current partners and more accreditations and approvals will be added to the site, and group, very soon.

To help integrate the operations and to support further expansion plans, the business has appointed Vince Scudder as a director, joining existing director Robert Snook in heading up the new group. The other owners of MG Cannon will run the Salisbury operations. Vince brings with him a wealth of experience within the sector having previously grown, at the time, Tonbridge Coachworks (now TCW) from a single site into a multisite operation prior to being bought out by Markerstudy Group in 2011.

‘These steps for the MG Cannon business should come as no surprise to anyone that reads the Business Pages within bodyshop magazine – sector consolidation has been a regular topic and we have all been given fair warning of where it is headed,’ explained Robert. ‘Vince coming on board will strengthen and diversify our management team. His successful background in growing operations meant he was a perfect fit for the business, so it is a very exciting time for MG Cannon.’

Established in 1996, Heritage Automotive operates 12 franchise sites representing Audi, Peugeot, Škoda and Volkswagen passenger car and commercial vehicles across Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset and Avon.
