LEAF turns over 15,000 units

Nissan has passed the 15,000 milestone of LEAF sales in the UK. It’s marking the occasion by offering a £500 discount to all retail customers who buy either a LEAF of e-NV200 this month.

The company hit the 15,000 mark just over a year after its 10,000^th sale in July 2015.

Ed Jones, EV manager at Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd, said, ‘Nissan LEAF owners are some of the most satisfied drivers on the roads today. They’ve realised switching to all-electric power delivers so many benefits – running costs around four times cheaper than that of a conventional combustion engine and up to 40 per cent savings in vehicle maintenance, to name but a few.

The Nissan LEAF is the world’s best-selling all-electric vehicle and there are now more than 230,000 on the road globally with around 61,000 in Europe. In 2015 Nissan announced it had saved 50 million kg of carbon emissions in Europe alone with sales of the LEAF.

Meanwhile, the Renault-Nissan Alliance has sold 350,000 electric vehicles since December 2010, when the Nissan LEAF went on sale. The Alliance achieved the historic milestone in August, while also setting an industry record of 100,000 EVs sold in a single year.

To date, the Nissan LEAF has driven more than 1.7 billion miles, helping prevent an estimated 455,249,190 tons of CO₂ from entering the atmosphere.
