Kids clean up this summer

Vauxhall Motors has launched a ‘Kids Carwash Franchise’ to encourage children to show off their entrepreneurial spirit and earn some extra cash this summer.

The car manufacturer is supplying kids with everything they need to start a car washing business, including a starter pack of equipment and a step-by-step ‘how-to’ guide to washing a car like a professional.

The initiative was launched after its own research found that children across the UK are set to earn a staggering £257,201,859 from doing chores this summer. From mowing lawns to washing their parents’ cars, kids will be adding an average of £48.54 across the holiday period to their piggy banks.

Tidying their rooms (65%), hoovering (51%) and washing dishes (49%) are the top three chores kids are likely to do this summer, but the survey of 2,000 parents and children also revealed that over a third (36%) will try their hand at car washing to earn money.

Denis Chick at Vauxhall Motors said, ‘I’m forever grateful for activities to entertain my grandsons over the summer holidays, so I am sure this will be welcomed by parents. The long break gives youngsters a chance to delve into the world of work for the first time. We hope by launching Vauxhall’s Kids Carwash Franchise, we will be able to give kids a helping hand in becoming kid-preneurs this summer.’
