JLR tipped to join electric convoy

Jaguar Land Rover is expected to launch its first electric car imminently.

It’s believed the vehicle will be a crossover between car and SUV with some predicting it will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show, which starts on 18 November.

The company has said it is committed to introducing electrification but hasn’t revealed any details of plans.

Phil Harrold, automotive partner at PwC, said, ‘No manufacturer can afford to be left behind. Not only will it be commercially important, but the emissions will be too.’

According to EU regulations, JLR will have to cut emissions by 45% by 2020 compared to its 2007 levels, or face potentially crippling fines.
