IMI strengthens MOT set-up

The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has recruited the DVSA’s MOT specialist, David Easton, to help more testers and managers benefit from its training and assessment offer.

David’s remit is to bring training and assessments to the whole MOT testing network with the IMI stamp of approval.

Since April 2016 MOT testers and managers have been required to take an annual assessment and three hours annual training to remain compliant. New testers and managers must also complete a new qualification.

David Easton, MOT training specialist, said, ‘I think this is a really exciting time for the MOT industry. For the first time since the MOT Scheme began back in the 1960’s MOT Testers and Managers now have their own set of National Occupational Standards and proper regulated qualifications. ‘

The IMI offers a full suite of new MOT training and assessment (classes 1 and 2 Motorcycle, and 4 and 7 Light Vehicle) plus the qualification and pre-qualifying assessment in the form of IMI Accreditation.
