Geneva Motor Show roars into life

New luxury cars from Aston Martin, Bugatti, Ferrari and Lamborghini will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this week. These models will be the headline acts in a show that will also showcase new technologies and concepts.

Bugatti will unveil its successor to the Veyron, the Bugatti Chiron, while Ferrari is debuting two cars, the California T Handling Speciale and the GTC4 Lusso four-seater.

Meanwhile, Lamborghini celebrates the birth of its founder 100 years ago by launching the Centenario. Only 40 are being made and they’ve all been pre-sold.

Also making its debut is the Aston Martin’s DB11, which succeeds the DB9 (DB10 is being bypassed as it was used in Spectre, the most recent James Bond film).

The SUV market is also expected to be well catered for in Geneva. Maserati will follow other luxury carmakers such as Jaguar and Bentley by launching the Levante, while Audi, Seat and Skoda are among a host of manufacturers that will also display new SUV models.

Green technology is also going to be a recurring theme of the Geneva Motor Show. Croatian company Rimac will unveil the production version of its all-electric Concept One supercar, which is powered by four electric motors and boasts a top speed of 221mph.

At the other end of the scale, UK-manufacturer Morgan will launch its EV3 electric three-wheeler. Developed with the help of a £6m government grant, the EV3 has range of about 120 miles and sells for £30,000.
