Fleet management in the palm of your hand

The logistics division of CD Auction Group has turned to connected handheld devices to manage its fleet of delivery drives.

The new smartphones and software, TBS Mobility Taskmaster system on Android devices, will be used for vendor vehicle collection and successful buyer deliveries within CD Fleet Services. They will also be used within the transport-only side of CD Fleet Services, which now accounts for around 30 per cent of all vehicle movements in the group’s transport and logistics division.

Andy Brown, CD Auction Group managing director, said, ‘The CD Fleet Services transport division has expanded rapidly in the last couple of years and we are now doing twice as many vehicle movements as we were two years ago. These new handheld devices, which are fully 4G-connected, will enable us to automate our data capture in this busy area and offer a seamless, online experience to our customers.

‘The integrated GPS satellite navigation means our drivers can send an ETA to a customer; no more sitting around wondering when the collection or delivery is going to happen. The navigation facility also allows better route planning when new jobs are booked.

‘Once on site, our drivers can confirm and record the condition of the vehicle electronically and then email all that documentation straight to the customer.’

In a further enhancement of its service, CD Fleet Services is also issuing all of its drivers with fully-branded uniform which will make them instantly recognisable to customers and improve brand recognition and status.
