EV charging points compulsory by 2019

All new or refurbished houses will have to include an electric vehicle (EV) charging point, according to European Union (EU) regulations due to come into effect by 2019.
The EU also wants 10% of parking spaces in new buildings to have charging points by 2023.
It believes that more EV charging infrastructure would also enable cars to supply energy back to Europe’s power network.
Experts believe the EV revolution is now taking off, with sales in September marking the 53rd consecutive month of registration rises. In the UK EV sales in the first nine months of 2016 were greater than the 2015 total, while the government has responded to this surge by announcing a £10m investment in charging infrastructure.
The spike is attributed to lower battery costs and more confidence in the range of EVs.
