DWF acts after fraud escalation

DWF has moved to combat the rising tide of insurance fraud in Scotland by launching a national counter fraud team.

Jill Sinclair has been named head of fraud, Scotland, and will work within DFW’s national counter fraud team.

Jill has experience in all aspects of civil litigation specialising in high-value personal injury and motor insurance claims.

The appointment reflects DWF’s investment in the national fraud team to meet increasing client demand and follows on from other recent appointments, including fraud partner Miles Hepworth based in Birmingham from DAC Beachcroft and solicitor Justine Wilson also from DAC Beachcroft, to the team in Scotland.

She said, ‘DWF is leading the way in the insurance sector with predictive analytics systems and market leading profiling intelligence that deliver real value to the firm’s clients.

‘I’m looking forward to leading the counter fraud team north of the border, working alongside colleagues nationally and internationally to further build the firm’s capability in protecting clients at risk to fraudulent activity.”

Andrew Lothian, DWF’s head of general insurance in Scotland, added, ‘Jill is a highly experienced lawyer and her skillset will complement the national team and strengthen our offering to Scottish clients.

‘The recent appointments come at a time when we are seeing the signs of increased fraud in the Scottish insurance market across all lines of business, including casualty, motor and the public sector.

‘Launching the counter fraud team in Scotland will allow us to protect our clients better against the growing fraud threat, leveraging the DWF analytics and intel platform, allied to the team’s local knowledge and experience, to provide a unique, integrated offering.’
