Devonshire Motors scoops top award

Devonshire Motors is celebrating after scooping another major award – this time for how well it looks after its customers.

The Barnstaple business beat off stiff competition to win the Excellence In Customer Service category at this year’s AM Awards, organised by the magazine Automotive Management and held at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre.

A delighted Nathan Tomlinson, dealer principal, said, ‘This is a fantastic win for us and one that really does mean a lot. It’s all thanks to the sheer hard work and dedication of the staff here that we’ve won this award, and I’m immensely proud of them all.

‘Customer care is of over-riding importance to us, and we strive to make sure that all our customers – whether they’re new or returning – are completely happy with all that we do for them. Basically, if they’re not satisfied then we’re not satisfied. That’s our ethos, and to have it acknowledged by our peers is tremendous. It’s the ultimate accolade, and unequivocally shows the public that we will look after them every step of the way.’

The AM Awards are dedicated to acknowledging exemplary performance and innovation, and the judges said of Devonshire Motors: ‘This dealer described its customer service strategy as ‘very simple and raw’, but it is underpinned by the most robust processes and measurements.

‘It understands that good customer service is a by-product of the right people, the right internal culture and a passion coming from senior management – it is not about box-ticking, incentives or gifts that artificially raise scores.’

Devonshire Motors consistently earns the maximum five-star rating in customer satisfaction surveys carried out by Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, and it has a bulging trophy cabinet from industry recognition, too. It is currently Mitsubishi Motors in the UK’s Dealer of the Year – an award it has won twice – and last year it picked up a long-service award for 25 years as a Mitsubishi dealer as well.
