Crash for cash warrants executed

Thames Valley Police has executed a number of warrants in connection with a crash for cash scam in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. 

Three warrants were executed in Slough; one in Faraday Road, one on Farnham Road and one in Norfolk Avenue.

The warrants were executed in conjunction with the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) and the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department City of London Police on Tuesday. Four men from Slough were arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation. They have all been released on police bail until 17 June.

Investigating officer, Det Sgt Jen Mckie of Force CID based at Maidenhead police station, said, ‘This investigation was launched to disrupt this alleged multi-million pound scam, which stretches across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

‘The nature of this offence causes innocent members of the public to be put at risk of severe physical harm and the community at large pay the price financially through increased insurance premiums.

‘We are working closely with our partners, the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) and Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) City of London Police, and have made four arrests.’

Director of the IFB, Ben Fletcher said, ‘These arrests send a clear message that we will investigate allegations of fraud. The insurance industry takes fraud incredibly seriously and is committed to tackling this unacceptable problem.

‘The IFB works closely with law enforcement agencies such as Thames Valley Police, as well as the rest of the insurance industry, to discover and disrupt organised fraud which puts the lives of honest motorists at risk.’
