Circle Leasing joins charity run

A Bury-based supplier of courtesy cars to the bodyshop sector is hoping to raise £5,000 for research into treatment for spinal cord injuries.

Eighteen colleagues from Circle Leasing will take part in the Wings for Life World Run in Cambridge on 8 May. Wings for Life is a worldwide event, with races taking place simultaneously in 30 locations around the world.

The runners and wheelchair participants remain the ‘race’ until they are overtaken by a Catcher Car, which sets off 30 minutes after them. The Catcher Car travels at 15kmph initially, increasing its speed to reach 35kmph by 4.30pm.

About 250,000 people suffer spinal injuries every year, half of which are the result of car accidents. Of these, 50% lead to paraplegia or tetraplegia.

‘We’ve had a great response from our team, with regular runners and keen amateurs alike training hard to stay ahead of the Catcher Car for as long as they can to help achieve our £5,000 target.  Recognising the relevance and worthwhile nature of the cause, we have had a great response from our customers and industry partners too.’
