CHO conference hears bodyshop stance

‘Protecting and enhancing relationships with accident repair centres’ was the topic Jason Moseley, director of RMI Bodyshops (NAB & VBRA) presented at the Credit Hire Organisation (CHO) annual conference.

RMI Bodyshops explored issues at the conference including: payment cycles in line with contract; the need to keep repairers funds separate from business operating funds; setting up trustee committees for repairer fund accounts; publishing annual reports of audited repairer funds account; and transparent invoicing practices to be engaged.

Jason Moseley commented, ‘The relationship between accident management companies and bodyshops fulfilling consumer needs for quality repairs is vital for the industry.

‘It is important to ensure that payments to bodyshops by accident management companies are protected in the case of these companies going into liquidation.  A recent case saw many RMI Bodyshop (NAB/VBRA) members left with average owed debt of £46K.’

The CHO is the UK’s leading trade body for the credit hire industry, and was established in May 2010 from a merger of the Accident Management Association (AMA) and the National Association of Credit Hire Operators.
