Century of cities up for TomTom

TomTom’s new traffic portal has extended to 100 cities in six months since launching.

TomTom City is accessible from any computer, tablet or smartphone and provides freely accessible content showing live traffic status and incidents and other driver-based information in cities.

In the UK, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh and Dublin have now been added to the service that already includes London, Glasgow and Manchester.

In total, TomTom City is now accessible to 175 million people.

Ralf-Peter Schäfer, head of traffic at TomTom, said, ‘TomTom City has proved popular so it’s great to extend it by another 50 cities. Alongside the launch of our Traffic Centre, TomTom is really showing the extensive capabilities it has to help optimise the road network for everyone and we’ll continue to add functionality to the site. This is a further step in our mission to help reduce delays for all drivers and pave the way to smarter cities by using data from over 450 million GPS devices globally.’
