BMW introduces excess protection

BMW Financial Services has added another insurance solution to its suite of motor insurance products – BMW Excess Protection Insurance.

The insurance is now available under the BMW, MINI, BMW Motorrad and Alphera brands throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. Administered by warranty and insurance expert Allianz Global Assistance UK, the cover is available through BMW Group Retailers and Alphera Partners.

The BMW Excess Protection Insurance policy is designed to reduce costs at the time of a customer having to make a claim on a motor, home (buildings and contents) or travel (annual multi-trip) insurance policy. If a car, home or travel insurance claim is accepted and paid by the customer’s main insurer, BMW Excess Protection Insurance will reimburse them for the cost of the excess they have had to pay.

Alongside existing insurance solutions offered by BMW Financial Services, including Shortfall, Tyre, Alloy Wheel Repair and Cosmetic Repair Insurance, the latest service is designed to increase customer retention.

Steve Cann, general manager for BMW Insurance Solutions commented, ‘BMW Excess Protection Insurance takes the uncertainty out of motor insurance, as the policyholder knows their potentially large excess can be covered if they need to make a claim.’
