Blundell to part Covéa

John Blundell, Covéa Insurance’s deputy chief executive, will leave the business at the end of May.

John joined Sterling Insurance Group as managing director in 2006 and has made ‘an enormous contribution’ to the development and success of the business over the last 10 years, up to and including its acquisition by Covéa in February 2015. He led the group to become a highly-respected player in all of the markets in which it operates and, in particular, one which is renowned for the exceptional quality of service which it delivers to its brokers, partners and customers. Since the acquisition, he has played a key role in the creation of a combined business which builds on the strong foundations of Covéa Insurance and Sterling to create something even better than the sum of its parts.

James Reader, Covéa Insurance chief executive, said, ‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank John for his invaluable contribution to Sterling, and for the help and support he has given me over the last year. He has been a fantastic leader of Sterling for many years and will leave us with our thanks and very best wishes for the future.’

John Blundell said, ‘I have enjoyed a wonderful 10 years at Sterling and, more recently, Covéa Insurance and I know that I am leaving an incredibly strong combined business with a really exciting future.

‘The support, commitment and friendship I have enjoyed with so many of the people I have worked with will stay with me forever and I would like to thank everyone for what they have done in helping me build a very special business.’
