All focus on Thatcham

Thatcham’s Repair Focus proved another great success as some 450 visitors participated in guided tours, topical panel debates and exhibitor showcases.
Themed ‘Bodyshop of the Future’ the event also saw 43 apprentices graduate with five individuals presented given special recognition. The winners of the awards were:
John Burns – Thatcham Automotive Academy and Independent Bodyshop Apprentice of the Year
Jessica Sevellec – Solus Apprentice of the Year
Mehmetali Husseyin – Most improved Solus Apprentice
Dan Beale – Nationwide Apprentice of the Year
George Abbitt – LV= Apprentice of the Year
With live Tesla training taking place throughout the day, a new addition to this year’s event saw delegates provided with a guided tour of the Repair Technology Centre to witness first-hand the work Thatcham undertakes with insurers and vehicle manufacturers. The bodyshop/IAEA VDA of the Year Competition finals also took place during the event.
Dean Lander, head of operations at Thatcham, said, ‘The Repair Focus event allowed visitors to tour the repair technology centre at Thatcham to give an insight into the methods that Thatcham adopts to produce time and parts data within its eScribe product to support the safe and efficient repair of motor vehicles.
‘In addition it allowed us to highlight some of the repair value special projects we work closely alongside vehicle manufacturers with to try and make efficient and more effective repairs possible.’
Matthew Wright, head of commercial services, Thatcham said, ‘Thatcham Repair Focus 2016 proved a fantastic day – the feedback has been very positive.’
