AkzoNobel gets in charity swing

The seventh annual AkzoNobel RAB Lee Golfing Day has raised over £19,000 for its nominated charities CLIC Sargent, Thames Hospice and Rowen’s Hospice at Home.

Almost 90 members of AkzoNobel’s Acoat selected network and guests from the automotive industry, enjoyed a round of golf at the Old Thorns Golf & Country Club in Hants followed by a formal dinner, raffle and auction. Top auction prizes included grandstand tickets for the British GP at Silverstone, test match tickets and signed F1 shirts.

The annual event is held in memory of RAB Lee who worked for AkzoNobel for 12 years in a variety of roles including UK manager for the Acoat Partner Programme. RAB lost his own battle with cancer in 2010.

AkzoNobel was the main sponsor, with this year’s event jointly hosted with two customers, Rainbow Bodyshop Group and Apollo Motor Company. Annie Keeleyside, RAB’s long term partner was a special guest.

Jon Amor, AkzoNobel’s vehicle refinishes manager for UK and Ireland, said, ‘It’s fantastic to be able to raise such a significant amount for charity in RAB’s memory and my sincere thanks to every single person that supported the event and donated. We always have a good turnout to honour RAB and it makes me proud of our Acoat and wider family.’
