Sytner Tamworth ready bodyshop

Sytner BMW and MINI will open the doors to its new dual-branded Stage One bodyshop in Tamworth next month (November 2015), complete with a pristine, state-of-the-art workshop designed and equipped by Spraybooth Technology Limited (STL).

Central to the bodyshop are three latest-generation spraybooths designed, manufactured and installed by STL to fulfil Sytner Tamworth’s specific work requirements, namely the efficient, high-quality finishing of non-structural body repairs and high-volumes of painted alloy wheels.

Simon Woodford, bodyshop development manager, Sytner BMW Division, explained, ‘The launch of our flagship Tamworth BMW Stage One repair facility gave us an opportunity to take a fresh look at how we manage our work and to equip our bodyshop accordingly.’

The BMW standard requires one BMW approved spraybooth at each of its Stage One sites, but with its collision repair business growing rapidly, Simon Woodford and his team took the decision to issue a competitive tender for two spraybooths. The bid was won by STL with their downdraft Cyclone booth providing unrivalled performance and the capacity to process high volumes of vehicle repairs.

In addition Sytner Tamworth has invested in STL’s side-planted Spraymate booth, as used by Sytner Leicester, which will be dedicated to the refinishing of multiple racks of painted alloy wheels. This energy-efficient booth utilises rear wall extraction and cross flow ventilation to provide a highly-efficient, economical solution. The company plans to finish 15 – 20 wheels a day using this new facility – freeing up the Cyclone booth for non-structural car repairs.

Simon Woodford concluded, ‘STL has more than met our requirements – designing and delivering a highly-flexible and cost-effective solution. STL provides equipment of a very high standard and we’ve found that they successfully combine great engineering expertise with a practical, hands-on approach to bodyshop design and spraybooth system deployment.’

Kevin Dillon, sales director, STL said, ‘We are very proud of our work with Sytner Tamworth. They gave us the unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in specifying and equipping their new flagship Stage One bodyshop and it has been great working with Simon and his team.’
