Standox celebrates 60 innovative years

To mark this occasion, the automotive refinish brand has created an anniversary website: www.standox.com/60. In an entertaining and informative way, the site illustrates important innovations that have made Standox one of the world’s most renowned premium refinish brands. These milestones are perfect examples of the made in Germany, high-quality Standox standards. Today, professional refinishers in more than 80 countries around the world put their trust in the advanced products and innovative technologies from the Wuppertal-based brand.

The brand’s success story began 60 years ago: in 1955, paint manufacturer Herberts launched a range of automotive refinish paints onto the market giving it the name Standox. The brand name derived from the words Standöl (stand oil – a raw material for the paint production) and oxidative (drying). The new paint quickly became popular and Herberts developed it further into a complete automotive refinish paint system.

Over the years and decades to come, Standox provided the industry with important new innovations. Take for example the metallic two-coat finish (1968), the blending technique (1973) or One Visit Application (1992). In the 1990s, Standox made a breakthrough in the area of environmentally-responsible waterborne basecoat systems with Standohyd. But the innovations are not limited exclusively to technology. The reputation Standox has as a premium brand is also due to its comprehensive services such as its training programmes and the expert consultancy in many areas of bodyshop management.

On its anniversary website, www.standox.com/60, Standox will, over the course of the year, publish twelve stories about innovation that will show the development of the brand over the last the six decades. The different eras will be illustrated with many photos, posters, image galleries and videos about Standox, and also about topics and news that were relevant at the time, bringing the whole brand story to life.
