Nicky and Movac target Olympics

ACIS member, Movac Group is supporting British hopeful, Nicky Hunt, in her quest for Rio 2016 Olympic glory.

Nicky is set to take part in a crucial European competition in preparation for Rio 2016 as she sets her archery target on Baku next week.

From 12-28 June 2015, the Ipswich-born double gold medalist at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games, is taking part in the World Archery Europe (WAE) competition in Azerbaijan’s capital, the lowest lying major city in the world.

The 3000-mile journey has been made possible by her local sponsor – independent coatings specialists, the Movac Group, which has financially supported her since 2011 in a deal that allowed her to leave her physiotherapist job to concentrate on her training.

Movac, an ACIS member, began its sponsorship soon after Nicky became Great Britain’s first Commonwealth archery gold medalist in almost 30 years.

Competing in five events over seven days, Nicky said, ‘Movac’s support for me over the last few years has been a great partnership and made a significant difference to my training towards the Rio 2016 Olympics. Without it, events such the WAE in Baku would have been unachievable.

As a ‘thank-you’, Nicky is a regular visitor to Movac’s head office in Ipswich where she regularly demonstrates her skills to staff who have taken part in archery sessions. She has also visited local schools with Movac to talk about her Olympic ambition.

Mark Smith, managing director of the Movac Group, said, ‘Business sponsorship plays an important role in preparing athletes as there is only a finite amount of funding that each can receive from UK Sports. In return, businesses like ours benefit from lessons in both inspiration and aspiration – learning how to compete effectively and striving to be the best that you can be, positive attributes that translate from sport to the business world.’
