New appointment at IAL

International Applications (IAL), the coatings and consumables supplier, has appointed Scott Ballantine as its new sales and marketing director with responsibility for the company’s Trade Group and Supply360 distribution divisions.

Scott has twenty years’ experience of bringing commercial growth to businesses across the UK, Europe and the USA. Most recently he was global director at Regus Group, the world’s leading provider of flexible workspace, where he increased market share by conceiving and delivering fresh products, services and propositions which brought new customers to the brand.

Scott will lead sales, marketing and customer experience for the Trade Group, which takes paints, coatings and consumables to the refinish market through the UK’s largest network of independent distributors, and for Supply360, which supplies automotive OEM, marine and industrial customers.

Llewelyn Mulder, IAL’s managing director said, ‘Scott’s appointment is a key element of a five-year strategic plan which will see International Applications grow its turnover to over £100m. We are an ambitious business and we set ourselves challenging targets, so we need individuals of the highest calibre to help us achieve our goals.’

‘I’m thrilled to have secured Scott as our Sales and Marketing Director. He has a track record of introducing new ways of working which have delivered commercial success within many different sectors across the world. He brings to our industry a well-rounded set of strategic and entrepreneurial skills honed within retail, distribution and business services.’

‘International Applications is a compelling business,’ said Scott, ‘We have a comprehensive portfolio of products, our own range of best-in-class coatings and consumables, a very strong team and the clear objective to deliver an industry-leading service and product proposition to our distributors and their customers.’

‘Innovation is at the heart of everything we do – not just at IAL but across our group of companies. There are a number of ground-breaking initiatives being developed across the group which will give us real opportunity to bring significant and long-lasting added value to the refinish industry.’

‘I’m excited to be part of this and look forward to discussing our vision in person with our customers and partners in the weeks ahead.’

IAL, which acquired the Trade Group in May 2015, is part of the DAC group of companies alongside ITAS, which specialises in bodyshop auditing and software, and runs vehicle manufacturer and IMI-accredited courses from its new world-class training academy in Milton Keynes. IAL has recently expanded its operations by opening offices in South Africa and South America.
