National BikeSafe Show comes to South West

The 2015 national BikeSafe show and track experience is taking place on Saturday July 11 at Castle Combe.

Motorcyclists, motorbike fans and families enjoying a day out were among the thousands who attended last year’s free-entry event and organisers are hoping for another bumper turnout.

There will be a range of attractions and displays for all ages as well as trade stands from the major manufacturers and rider assessment sessions.

This year Honda TT star John McGuinness will be attending the event as well as the Yamaha Darkside MT Tour with stunt rider Dave Coates.

Bikers can also sign up for a police advanced rider assessment and a 15-minute stint on the circuit for £30, as part of the police BikeSafe scheme.

In addition, event-goers will have the chance to have a go at Moto Gymkhana which will incorporate the BMW sponsored National Police Moto Gymkhana Challenge.

Other attractions include a children’s bouncy castle, trade stands and displays, and a police stand where people can come and meet the officers.

There will be a range of bike manufacturers at the event with demo bikes available to test ride from BMW, KTM, Triumph, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Ducati, Moto Guzzi and Aprilia.

The event is being organised by Avon and Somerset Police and will also involve motorcycle officers from around the country, including Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Essex, Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Deputy Chief Constable Tim Madgwick of North Yorkshire Police, the national police lead for motorcycling, said, ‘I am delighted that professional motorcyclist John McGuinness will be joining us at the National BikeSafe Show and Castle Combe track experience. It demonstrates the support the BikeSafe scheme has from the motorcycle industry and how highly thought of it is.’

The event runs from 10am until 5pm and parking is free. The police assessed ride and track experience can be booked at www.bikesafe.co.uk
