Hyundai tops reliability survey

Hyundai has topped a list for most reliable cars in 2015, beating Toyota and Honda into second and third places.

The annual Vehicle Health Index Manufacturer & Vehicle Reliability Rankings survey, carried out by car repair data and solutions provider CarMD.com Corporation, found that Hyundai drivers faced the fewest trips to repair shops last year.

The survey also found that those who made the reliability list for 2015 also offered lower than average repair costs.

Ieon Chen, CEO of CarMD said, ‘Unlike other industry reports and rankings that rely on subjective survey data, CarMD’s Index is the only annual ranking that bases its findings on actual in-use vehicle failures and associated car repair costs.

‘Car maintenance and repairs are a fact of life, but this data can be used in tandem with other tools and information to help car shoppers make informed decisions about the vehicles they are considering.’

Ford and Chrysler also made the top five, followed by Kia, General Motors, Mazda, Nissan and Volkswagen.

Meanwhile, when it comes to individual vehicles, the 2015 Toyota Corolla ranked as the most reliable. Toyota had six cars, six hybrids (the first time an electric car made the list), four SUVs and two trucks in the top 100, more than any other company.
