Global transport minister summit kicks off
Key topics of this year’s summit will be centered on transport and climate change as a milestone to the COP 21 climate change conference in December 2015.
The Annual Summit of transport ministers from around the world will take place in Leipzig, Germany from 27-29 May 2015, under the Presidency of New Zealand. The theme of the 2015 Summit is Transport, Trade and Tourism.
Transport ministers from all over the globe will gather in Leipzig for the two-and-a- half day Annual Summit to discuss the role of transport in a world of growing global trade and rapidly expanding tourism. They will be joined by more than 1,000 participants from around 80 countries during the Summit.
Transport ministers will discuss mitigating transport-related climate change impacts of trade and tourism during the ministerial session of the Leipzig Summit. Ministers will also work on a joint declaration.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will be addressing the ministers via a video message to urge them to accelerate efforts to combat climate change.
