Gary Smith polishes off championship win

After a season of 12 rounds and 24 championship races, Farécla key accounts manager, Gary Smith, took the final honours to win the 2015 Greeves Classic Scrambles Championship.

The Greeves Series is for Greeves manufactured motorcycles made from 1954 to 1973. A bonus points system is in place to entice everything from the earlier Iron Barrelled Hawkstones built in the 1950s through to the 380cc Griffon QUB of the 1970s.

Run by ex-Greeves employee, Dave Harper, the series has been a huge success. From its foremost race held in 2001 at Maylandsea in Essex, the series has gone from strength-to-strength and is now consistently contended by a grid of almost thirty-five riders and is hosted across a number of classic motorcycle clubs around England.

The season long championship went right down to the last two races which saw Gary take back to back race wins and secure his second consecutive championship by a mere 7 points. Runner up was friend and automotive industry colleague Matt McCulloch who runs the Body-Tek automotive body repair shop in Maldon in Essex. The pair have been battling for race wins in this highly competitive high speed off road championship for a number of years now and have become good friends sharing both industry and motorsport interests.

The 2016 race season starts again in March and is sure to be equally hotly contended.
