Driver continues journey after M5 crash

A man who drove a severely damaged car for 42 miles at speeds of up to 90 mph has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

Michael McCluskey, 30, from Mill Lane in Birmingham, was stopped by police on the M5 on 30 May, an hour after he had collided with a lorry near Gloucester. The damage to his Vauxhall estate included a badly smashed windscreen and a caved in roof.

At Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court he admitted driving dangerously and failing to stop after an accident.

He is due to be sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court on 21 August.
