Automechanika Birmingham‎ to host SMMT Forum

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) will host its next Open Forum event at Automechanika Birmingham, the UK’s first trade show dedicated to automotive supply chain and aftermarket companies.

SMMT Open Forum brings together UK automotive industry delegates for a day of insightful discussions and networking. The event’s focus is on opportunities in the UK’s automotive supply chain with industry experts and key decision-makers speaking on a variety of industry topics.

The last Open Forum, in October 2015, hosted more than 300 delegates from across the industry. The event featured speakers from government, major vehicle manufacturers such as Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan and Toyota, plus technology firms such as Google.

Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive said, ‘The entire UK automotive industry depends on the health of its domestic supply chain, and Open Forum is a must-attend for any supplier looking for unique insight into the trends influencing the sector. Co-hosting the event with Automechanika Birmingham will give delegates access not just to our own valuable content but to hundreds of exhibitors from across the international supply chain and aftermarket sectors.’

Simon Albert, event director at Automechanika Birmingham said, ‘Bringing Open Forum to Automechanika Birmingham will add further thought-provoking content and networking opportunities to the feature-packed three-day schedule – reflecting the priorities of our exhibitors and visitors.’

Automechanika Birmingham will take place on 7-9 June 2016 at the Birmingham NEC. Open Forum will run on the first day of the show, followed by Meet the Buyer on day two.
