ACIS supports Boundary 500 SOS Challenge

Charity fundraisers who have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds in two-wheel motorcycle events are revving up for their biggest challenge to date – to get as many people as possible to make their own personal journeys to each of the UK’s three Zoe’s Place Baby Hospices.

The Boundary 500 SOS Challenge is the brainchild of Northallerton-based Brian Laverick with the help of Dave Rathmell, an ACIS customer from Simon Bailes Peugeot Dealership and accident repair centre in Stockton upon Tees who have dedicated their spare time to motorcycling and fund raising over a number of years.

After raising £400,000 for the Air Ambulance charity since 2006 through a series of events, including the annual north-east Santa Rides that attract thousands of riders in Father Christmas outfits, Dave and his fellow Boundary 500 colleague Brian Laverick are making 2016 the year for exclusively highlighting the need of Zoe’s Place Baby Hospices.

‘There is one local to us in Middlesbrough, but there are also centres in Liverpool and Coventry and we want to encourage as many people to start their own fund raising efforts by visiting all three centres – and they can do this on a motorcycle, by car, cycle, and even run the distance which is around 450 miles,’ said Dave.

‘Zoe’s Place Hospices are inspirational places and we want to make as many people as possible aware of the wonderful work that they do and raise a lot of money along the way.  Anyone can take part from January onwards throughout 2016 and do it on dates to suit them, by whatever transport means they want,’ added Dave who is also one of 30,000 riders taking part in the 2015 Santa Ride on Teeside on 28 November.

ACIS CEO Graham O’Neill said, ‘Dave is one of life’s motorcycling enthusiasts and someone who puts his heart and soul into his charity work – which is why we fully support the efforts of the Boundary 500 team.’
